Weekend amusements

For today's visual stimulation, a couple of masterpieces - one of my own and one that's not. The first is not - though I was there for the premiere. My nephew Lukey is cuter every day! Last night we had a chance to pop out and visit for dinner and to wish my OLD sister a happy 30th, since I will be in Canada during her birthday party.

On Saturday I did a little more work on my friend's playroom wall. They're making a karaoke stage for their kids, and on the wall behind it I'm painting a mural of Diana Ross, Bob Marley, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan and Billie Holiday. Diana Ross is finished, and Bob Marley just has the hair and guitar to finish. It's taking some time, but I sure love the massages she's paying me in!

These boots are made for strutting

There's nothing like a music video shoot to inspire a girl to shop.
My best friend eBay found me two fabulous pairs of boots, both for about twenty bucks after shipping charges.
Check them out!

A grown-up bedroom

I would love to have a grown-up bedroom. What I mean by grown-up is having all the necessary furniture, preferably matching (or at least intentionally mis-matching), with an actual bedframe with a headboard and matching bedding instead of whatever random old blankets happen to be clean. Before this weekend, none of this was the case. We don't even have end tables. Until my brother moved out and I got my dresser back, my alarm clock and lamp were on the floor by my bed.
Thanks to Linens 'N Things going out of business, I am one step closer to my dream. We bought this bedding set at a very reasonable price:

In real life, the green is much more vibrant than it looks here.
Still considering options for (and saving for) a headboard. Maybe something kooky like me...

Or stick with the straight lines and modern look (I'm leaning toward this, especially since I can make it myself)...

And green walls and cream drapes and chocolate furniture... hmm...

A little Friday fantasy

Here are a few beauties that have been sitting in the 'future blogs' folder for a while. A little imagination, a little whimsy, a little bit of extraordinary for your Friday!
I lost the credits to this - if I remember right, it came from Eastern Europe. So interesting!

Angel oak - 1500 years old. I could almost believe that this tree has a soul.

A fantasitic bed by Shawn Lovell Metalworks.

One of Michael Kenna's starkly beautiful photos.

'Storm King Wall' by Andy Goldsworthy. And I don't mean the photo. I mean the wall. A 2278-ft art project constructed from stones on the property. I'd love to see it in person.
